There’s never been a better time to visit the Cologne zoo. With two new babies in the elephant enclosure, this year’s ‘Elephant Day’ on April 09, promises to be better than ever!

There’s a veritable baby boom going on at the Cologne zoo! In January the elephant enclosure welcomed a little bull called Jung Bul Kne, and on March 20, elephant cow Marlar joined the herd. In February two baby otters arrived and on March 17,  Jala the antelope was born.

There’s always a new baby somewhere in the zoo so it’s always worth a visit. But the elephant bonanza means the annual ‘Elephant Day’ on April 09, will be particularly interesting this year.

Elephant Day promises fun and activities for the whole family. The elephant keepers will give talks at 11.30 and 14.30 on the terrace opposite the playground and answer questions about the new babies and the other elephants in the herd. Every half an hour there will be a free tour around the elephant park (except at 11:30 and 14:30), with a meeting point at the entrance to the elephant house. There will also be activities for kids such as badge making, face painting and much more besides, all completely free of charge.
