Cast yer anchor at the Hafen Christmas market for some ho, ho, ho and a bottle of Glühwein. Ahoy!
This maritime themed Christmas market is situated at the end of the Rhine promenade right next to the famous Chocolate Museum.
It’s a 10-minute walk from Cologne’s old town, but the Hafen Christmas market is well worth a visit, not least because it’s often quieter than those in the center of town.
Fish and mulled wine
With its nautical theme, the market is full of pirates and references to the sea. There’s a huge ship-shaped Glüwein stand right at the entrance, and you’ll find lots of fish specialities on offer.
Filled with over 70 little white pagoda shaped stands, there are local products for sale, as well as a changing arts and crafts program to keep visitors entertained. The program includes live music, a children’s play tent and playboats, as well as the so-called Rhine pirates, all decked out in sailor’s outfits.
